Disney has officially confirmed that Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris Resort will be renamed: Disney Adventure World.

Background and Development

Initially planned as MGM-Disney Studios Europe, Walt Disney Studios Park opened its gates in 2002. Due to budget cuts, it started with just three attractions and limited space, earning the nickname “parking lot.” Despite initial challenges, it eventually became an integral part of the Disneyland Paris Resort.

Disney's Takeover and Transformation

Disney's acquisition of the resort in 2017 marked the beginning of a comprehensive revitalization of the park. In 2018, Disney announced an ambitious multiphase expansion plan, starting with the transformation of the Backlot area into the Avengers Campus. Further additions included a promenade, an artificial lake, and the Kingdom of Arendelle, a “Frozen”-themed land similar to the recently opened one in Hong Kong Disneyland.

Obsolescence of the Studio Theme

With the complete renewal of Studio 1, the park’s entrance area, and potential expansions like The Land of the Lion King and Pandora: The World of Avatar, the original studio theme has lost its relevance. Speculation about the need for a name change has been circulating for years.

The Renaming

Disney has now announced that the park will officially be renamed Disney Adventure World. This change reflects the extensive enhancements and the new direction of the park. The new name aims to better represent the diverse worlds of experience awaiting visitors.
