The Disneyland Resort in California is set for a major expansion. A new “Coco” attraction, an Avatar experience, a doubled Avengers Campus, and a modern parking structure with a transit hub will elevate the guest experience to new heights.
“Coco” Attraction Breaks Ground This Fall
In the Disney California Adventure Park, a new attraction inspired by Pixar’s “Coco” will take shape near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, in areas previously used mostly backstage. Construction of this themed ride begins this fall, bringing the vibrant world of the film to life for guests.
Avatar Experience Planned for Hollywood Backlot
A portion of the Hollywood Backlot area in Disney California Adventure Park will be transformed into an Avatar destination. The project is in early development, with further details on construction timelines to be announced later. To make way for this new experience, the “Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!” attraction will close in early 2026.
Avengers Campus to Double in Size
The Disneyland Resort’s expansion includes two new attractions that will double the size of the Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure Park. These additions will deepen the superhero experience, making the park even more appealing to fans of Marvel’s iconic heroes.
New Parking Structure and Transit Hub
A new area will be developed on the current Manchester employee parking lot, featuring around 6000 parking spaces, zones for shuttles and rideshare services, and security checkpoints. A dedicated access point from Disney Way will streamline traffic flow across the resort. A pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard will connect to a new Esplanade-style arrival area, offering convenient public access from the boulevard. This multi-year project’s construction starts in fall 2026, paving the way for future growth and welcoming more guests.
