An era has come to an end at Holiday Park: The Antique Horse Carousel, an attraction that has been part of the park since 1981, has been removed. This historical carousel, constructed in 1879, embarked on a long journey before finding its place in the park.

History of the Carousel

Originally built in Germany in 1879, the carousel was sold to a Swiss party and spent many years traveling across Switzerland. In the 1980s, it finally became a part of Holiday Park, where it was installed in the Pfalzdorf area, sheltered under a roof, nestled between the closed dark roller coaster Burg Falkenstein and the water ride DinoSplash.

Reasons for Demolition

Over time, adapting the carousel to meet increasingly strict safety regulations became more challenging. The costs associated with these adaptations led the Plopsa Group, the owner of Holiday Park, to decide to sell the attraction and part ways with it.

The New Attraction

Replacing the historic carousel, a new attraction is being constructed by the Dutch manufacturer, Wooddesign Amusement Rides. This company is known for supplying various carousels and chain carousels to Plopsa parks throughout Europe. The steel structure of the new attraction is already in place.

Conclusion

The demolition of the Antique Horse Carousel marks the end of a long chapter at Holiday Park. The construction of a modern attraction continues the tradition of entertainment, while establishing new standards in safety and technology
