Legoland Windsor introduces a new shopping experience: The first cashless store in a European theme park, Duplo Coffee Co, has opened its doors, offering visitors a revolutionary way to shop.

Introduction of the Cashless Store

Legoland Windsor has become the first European theme park to open a cashless store, now available for the 2024 season. Located in the park’s Duplo Valley, Duplo Coffee Co utilizes Zippin's advanced AI platform, which combines machine learning and sensor technology to streamline the shopping process.

How the Store Works

The store, transformed into a Zippin-powered shop, allows visitors to purchase sandwiches, snacks, coffee, and other beverages without waiting in line. Customers can enter by scanning their credit card or mobile wallet, pick up the items they want, and simply walk out, with charges being automatically processed as they exit.

Reactions to the Opening

Helen Milligan-Smith, CEO of Aramark UK, one of Merlin Entertainments' F&B partners, emphasized: “At Aramark UK, we are committed to enhancing the customer experience. The introduction of this autonomous approach helps meet the needs of guests who want to make the most of their visit to the theme park.”

Morgan Edwards, Hotel and Commercial Director at Legoland Windsor, added: “This cutting-edge concept perfectly aligns with our commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience.”

Krishna Motukuri, CEO and Co-founder of Zippin, commented: “Zippin makes a lot of sense for theme parks that attract thousands of guests daily. High-traffic retailers that switch their traditional stores to Zippin technology often see revenue increases of 78 percent or more. More importantly, visitors can enjoy the park’s food and beverage offerings without standing in line, giving them more time for rides, shows, and other activities during their park visit.”

Comparable Projects

Last year, Six Flags Magic Mountain in California opened a cashless store operated by Amazon. The Quick 6 Concept Store first debuted at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, offering similar technology to Duplo Coffee Co.
