An era ends, and a new one begins at Parc Astérix: The popular family roller coaster, known as SOS Numérobis, will be rebranded as SOS Tournevis starting in 2024. This third name change since its opening marks a significant milestone in the coaster's history.

From Trans'Arverne to SOS Tournevis: A Journey Through Time

Manufactured by the German company Zierer, the ride commenced operations in 1990 as Trans'Arverne. This name paid homage to a Gallic tribe, embedding the coaster deeply in France's rich history. Following a relocation in 2000 to its current site and a comprehensive overhaul in the winter of 2015–2016, the coaster is now set for its third name change. This time, in honor of Tournevis, the cunning aide to the Egyptian architect Amonbofis.

Strategic Name Change to Prevent Confusion

The transition to SOS Tournevis is a well-considered move to eliminate confusion with the new, nearby chain carousel, La Tour de Numérobis. The proximity and similarity of the two names could have easily led to mix-ups. With this change, Parc Astérix once again demonstrates its customer focus and commitment to a clear, cohesive visitor experience.

A New Pirate Adventure: La Grande Revanche des Pirates

The roller coaster's name change is not the only update at Parc Astérix in 2024. The water ride Le Grand Splatch, another crowd favorite since 1989, is also getting a new name and theme. Titled La Grande Revanche des Pirates, the attraction will take adventurous sailors on an exciting journey.

New Names, New Adventures

The name changes at Parc Astérix signify the park's constant evolution and growth. With SOS Tournevis and La Grande Revanche des Pirates, a new era of excitement and adventure begins. Visitors can look forward to unique experiences when the park reopens its gates for the 2024 season on March 30.
