LEGOLAND Boy, Peppa Pig Bring Joy to Children’s Cancer Center

On May 12, 2025, Peppa Wutz and LEGOLAND Boy, the beloved mascots of LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort, brought joyful moments to the Schwäbische Kinderkrebszentrum at Augsburg University Hospital. With LEGO bricks, music, and warm hugs, they created carefree memories for young patients, brightening the hospital routine with smiles and laughter.

Cheerful Moments on the Wards

LEGOLAND Boy visited the oncology and pediatric surgery wards, equipped with LEGO sets and a portable music box. Children focused on building colorful models while cheerful music filled the air. Peppa Wutz, arriving from the nearby PEPPA PIG Park Günzburg, danced with the youngest patients on the pediatric ward, sparking laughter. Warm hugs and playful moments with Peppa toys turned the morning into a haven of lightness, easing the hospital routine for the children.

Laughter as Emotional Strength

Sonja Ickinger, a certified psychologist and head of psychosocial services, highlighted the value of such experiences. “For seriously ill children, these carefree moments are incredibly important. Days like this give them strength and joy that linger,” she said. Hospital director Prof. Dr. Michael Frühwald emphasized that laughter is a unique medicine. “In the hospital routine, one thing must never be overlooked: laughter,”a unique medicine,” he said. Such visits support the emotional healing process of young patients, complementing the hospital’s commitment to medical excellence, emotional closeness, and child-friendly care.

LEGOLAND Brings Joy to the Bedside

LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort focuses on shared play and laughter to create unforgettable memories for families. Managing Director Manuela Stone underscored the park’s mission. “We want to bring joy where it’s needed most. If children and families can’t visit LEGOLAND due to illness, we bring LEGOLAND to them—right to their bedside. Every child deserves carefree moments full of laughter and joy,” she said. This commitment shapes numerous initiatives both within and beyond the park.

Top-Tier Medicine with Heart

The Schwäbische Kinderkrebszentrum at Augsburg University Hospital ranks among Germany’s top pediatric clinics. Beyond outstanding medical care, it prioritizes creativity and emotional well-being. Regular activities like the “Day of Laughter” or visits from hospital clowns bring joy and distraction to young patients’ daily lives, reinforcing the clinic’s dedication to both medical and emotional support.

LEGOLAND’s Social Commitment

The visit was made possible by Merlin’s Magic Wand, the charitable arm of Merlin Entertainments Group, which supports families of seriously ill children worldwide, including through free theme park visits. LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort consistently champions social responsibility. In 2024, the park earned the “Reisen für Alle” accessibility certification. Through initiatives like “Purple Light Up” and the “Fun Festival,” which donates thousands of free tickets to social organizations annually, the resort promotes inclusion and community engagement.
