During the IAAPA Honors 2025, Europa-Park Erlebnis-Resort welcomed a high-profile delegation from Universal Studios Japan. Led by JL Bonnier, the incoming Chief Operating Officer and President, Pacific Rim, the group engaged in meaningful discussions with Europa-Park owner Roland Mack about key topics shaping the global theme park industry.
Dynamic Exchange on the Future of Theme Parks
The meeting centered on current challenges, future opportunities, and groundbreaking trends in the global theme park sector. Roland Mack and the Japanese delegation explored ways to advance the industry through constructive dialogue. Europa-Park, a leading player in the theme park world, provided an ideal setting for this exchange, reinforcing its commitment to international collaboration.
Longstanding Partnership with Osaka
The relationship between Europa-Park and Universal Studios Japan dates back to 2010. That year, Mack Rides, a company under the Mack family, designed the popular Spinning Coaster “Space Fantasy - The Ride” for the Osaka-based park. This attraction continues to captivate guests and receives annual upgrades with cutting-edge VR content from VR Coaster, a subsidiary based in Kaiserslautern. These ongoing enhancements highlight the innovative spirit of both partners.
Value of Global Collaboration
Roland Mack emphasized the importance of such meetings: “Personal exchanges with our longstanding partners from Japan are invaluable. These international encounters allow us to learn from each other and set new impulses for the future of the theme park industry.” The delegation’s visit underscores Europa-Park’s role as a globally connected leader and its dedication to shaping the industry’s future.
