On May 30, 2024, the restaurant "Amitié - La Cuisine du Château" will open in Hartmannswiller, Alsace. Located near the Alsace Wine Route, Thomas Mack, managing partner of Europa-Park, introduces a new gastronomic highlight in a picturesque setting.
A new opening in Alsace
In Hartmannswiller, directly on the Alsace Wine Route, the restaurant "Amitié - La Cuisine du Château" will open its doors on May 30, 2024. Thomas Mack, managing partner of Europa-Park and co-owner of the Château Ollwiller winery, is realizing another gastronomic dream. The restaurant's concept emphasizes the authenticity of its products. Under the leadership of Holger Strütt and Chef Philippe Peuple, an international cuisine with French influences is offered. The dishes are predominantly prepared over an open fire and served five days a week, both at lunch and dinner.
Historical Background and Seating
The restaurant, part of the historical Château Ollwiller, has been opened after extensive renovation. "Amitié" symbolizes Franco-German friendship, bringing people together with natural food and excellent wines. The indoor area offers 70 seats with an open grill, while the sunny terrace accommodates 120 seats. Additionally, there is a wine bar with 22 seats inside and 30 seats outside. The entrance is adorned with a lovingly designed herb garden.
Culinary Concept
Holger Strütt, former head chef of the 4-star superior hotel "Bell Rock", and Philippe Peuple, an experienced star chef, ensure culinary excellence. The menu combines local and international dishes with a strong emphasis on regional organic products. A highlight is the charcoal grill from Galicia, where regional meat and fish specialties, as well as vegetables from their own cultivation, are prepared in front of the guests. The wine list includes selected wines from Alsace, Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Baden, including the biodynamic wines from the neighboring winery of Mathieu Kauffmann.
Own Cultivation and Biological Diversity
The vegetables for the restaurant come from the "Chez Marianne" garden on the winery estate, where seasonal varieties are grown under controlled organic conditions. Named after Marianne Mack, this garden emphasizes a natural and closed cycle. The cultivation method follows the principles of permaculture, imitating natural ecosystems. This creates ideal conditions for the plants and contributes to a healthy diet. The harvest is used not only in "Amitié", but also in the 2-star restaurant "Ammolite – The Lighthouse Restaurant" and the future fine dining restaurant "Eatrenalin".
Promoting Franco-German Friendship
For decades, the Mack family has supported the European idea and cross-border cooperation, especially between Germany and France. Michael Mack, managing partner of Europa-Park and CEO of MackOne, strengthens this connection as Honorary Consul of the Republic of France. With the French headquarters of the group in Plobsheim and projects like the "Château Ollwiller" and the restaurant "Amitié - La Cuisine du Château", the Mack family sets a sign for cross-border cooperation. Thomas Mack describes the Ollwiller winery as a heartfelt project for all involved, emphasizing its multi-generational approach.
