On June 30, 2025, Europa-Park hosted the prestigious 4th Schwarzwald Genuss-Award “kuckuck 25.” Roland Mack, owner of Europa-Park, received the honorary award for his entrepreneurial lifetime achievement. The Schwarzwald Tourismus GmbH recognized his significant contribution to elevating the Schwarzwald’s global reputation as a premier tourism destination.
Lifetime Achievement Award for a Pioneer
A twelve-member expert jury honored Roland Mack for his remarkable career. In his laudatory speech, Dr. Patrick Rapp, State Secretary in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, and Tourism, praised Mack as a visionary. He highlighted Mack’s innovative spirit and entrepreneurial courage, which transformed Europa-Park into one of the world’s leading amusement parks. “Roland Mack is a true pioneer and visionary whose life’s work has profoundly shaped the leisure and tourism industry,” Rapp stated. Mack’s efforts have firmly positioned the Schwarzwald, Baden-Württemberg, and Germany on the global leisure industry map.
Europa-Park as an Economic Powerhouse
Europa-Park, Germany’s largest amusement park, transcends the role of a typical day-trip destination. It seamlessly blends thrilling attractions, exceptional cuisine, and innovative concepts, establishing itself as a vital economic driver for the region. For visitors from within Germany and abroad, the resort remains a top choice for short getaways, combining adventure with relaxation.
Celebrating Schwarzwald’s Culinary Excellence
The Europa-Park gala showcased the Schwarzwald’s rich gastronomy and hospitality. In addition to the honorary award, six public awards were presented. Early in 2025, food enthusiasts nominated their favorites across six categories. Following an initial voting round, the top five finalists in each category competed for online votes. All 30 finalists attended the ceremony, eagerly awaiting the winners’ announcement. The awards celebrated the region’s authentic cuisine, creative culinary artistry, and sustainable, innovative concepts.
