The “Skulpturenallee” along the Alte Elz, opposite Hotel Bell Rock in Rust, was ceremonially opened. This freely accessible art exhibition, created in collaboration with the renowned Würth Collection, showcases large-scale sculptures by international artists. Initiated by Europa-Park founder Roland Mack, the project enriches Rust and the resort with a unique blend of art and nature.
Monumental Art for Everyone
The “Skulpturenallee” features 15 large-scale sculptures by artists such as Stephan Balkenhol from Germany, Robert Jacobsen from Denmark, Bernar Venet from France, László Szabó from Hungary, Ottmar Hörl from Germany, Heinrich Brummack from Germany, Werner Pokorny from Germany, Riccardo Cordero from Italy, and Vitali Safronov. These works, which shaped 20th- and 21st-century sculpture, come from the Würth Collection and are complemented by Europa-Park’s own pieces. The exhibition allows visitors to compare diverse artistic approaches and enjoy the variety of modern sculpture in a natural setting.
A Permanent Art Initiative
Roland Mack, Europa-Park’s founder and an honorary citizen of Rust, launched the “Skulpturenallee” to bring global artists to the region. “With this art project, I aim to invite internationally renowned artists to Rust and make their works freely accessible - for Rust’s residents, visitors to the community, and guests of the Europa-Park Erlebnis-Resort,” Mack stated. Planned as a permanent fixture, the exhibition will evolve with rotating and fixed sculptures over the years. Art connects people worldwide and enhances Europa-Park’s diverse offerings.
Art and Nature in Harmony
Positioned along the Alte Elz, the sculptures create a striking effect. The natural backdrop fosters a space for contemplation and aesthetic experience. The “Skulpturenallee” demonstrates that great art thrives not only in museums but also outdoors. Visitors can explore the works at their leisure, immersing themselves in the seamless connection between art and the landscape. The tranquil setting of the Alte Elz amplifies the impact of the monumental sculptures.
A Place of Inspiration
More than an exhibition, the “Skulpturenallee” is an experience for art enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation. It offers a rare opportunity to encounter works by international artists in a dialogue between past and present. The monumental sculptures invite reflection, making Rust a new destination for art lovers. By combining nature and global sculpture, the site inspires and provides a serene retreat.
